He will give you a broad outline you would follow, but will check in to see where your ideas are at, and question you on specific parts of the information. He will also allow you to find out information of your own, making the ideas you get yours, not someone else’a. There is also a chance you get to do a project or debate, in which you strengthen your knowledge as a whole, or just a specific part.

He is extremely knowledgable in the topics he teaches and explains everything very clearly, you can always ask him to explain something in further detail or with examples to help you understand it better!

Mr James has a way of teaching that just MAKES SENSE. Instead of bombarding us with information, he eases us into the lesson. He always starts with something simple, like a quick definition (usually of the title or the main concept), a warm-up discussion, or a question that gets us thinking. It’s like he’s guiding us through the topic rather than just delivering a lecture, so that before we even realise it, we’re fully engaged and diving deeper, yet everything still feels clear and logical.

I really enjoyed how interactive and informative his teaching style was. Mr. James had a very clear and structured way of explaining concepts, leading us step by step into deeper understanding. He encouraged us to think critically, share our ideas, and never made us feel like there were wrong answers. His friendly and approachable attitude made the class environment comfortable and engaging.

Students can expect a well-prepared class with insightful resources. There will be many opportunities for discussions and sharing ideas – the more you share, the more interesting the class will be!

His teaching helped me develop an interest in geography and stay motivated. And of course better grades too.

I liked that his teaching style was different from traditional teachers. It would not be just him communicating to us on one way. In contrast, we would discuss with peers to broaden our thinking with each other. This way allowed me to have more ideas to answer the questions for exam questions.

Mr James is an ‘organic’ teacher which can be a funny thing to say because he teaches Geography but I genuinely believe that he has a very distinctive teaching style. During the exam season, this was especially helpful to me because instead of rote memorising, I remembered every topic easily since I had explored it myself with Mr James helping me along the way. I adored being able to decide my own case studies and absorbing every piece of information I found online.

Mr. James will always be the best teacher I’ve ever had, from a person who did not expect much from Geography as it was not her preferred study field, to a person who had her passion developed in his class, slowly gained her confidence as he continuously pushed her out of her comfort zone and performed well in her exams. After learning with Mr. James for just 2 years, I realized that teachers like him do not just stop at teaching, they also inspire and shape the way we see the world. Whether it was through engaging discussions and debates or thought-provoking issues, he made every student (and their ideas) feel valued and capable of achieving further greatness. Aside from academics, to me, he was a kind and supportive teacher who had a massive power in influencing students’ thoughts and behaviors. He believed in students even when they doubted themselves and always ensured he could help students in the best and fastest way. I really admired his words of encouragement and beliefs in my abilities (which will always stay in my heart) as they contribute a lot in shaping who I am today. His passion and desire for teaching were truly admirable, and will always be.

He is a very knowledgeable teacher, not only in terms of having the ability to grasp students’ attention by spiking their interest in the subject and keeping them motivated to stay focused, but also knowing how to balance educating students with higher predispositions to grasp the subject matter and those of lower. As he is also an extremely caring person, he’s not only there to help with studies, but he will be there whenever you are having difficult times, which I think is keeping the teacher-student bond stronger.

His teaching style is probably one of the best you would see in the world. Not only did he teach the materials effectively, he also encourage students to think wide and think deep, enabling students to connect the dots of different aspects and think through topics critically. Moreover, he encourage students to look into geography through students interests and express their opinion freely. The way he respects and responds to different students’ opinion is really helpful in the learning process and provides a strong positive feedback loop. He really has the ability to transform a high-school class session into a ivy-league level discussion sessions that is not only intuitive for students to understand, but also encourage students to think and express their opinions in a structured way.

Mr. James is a great teacher because he genuinely cares about his students and their success. He’s always available to help, whether it’s during office hours or just a quick question after class. His ability to break down difficult concepts in a way that’s easy to grasp is something I really appreciated. He doesn’t just teach the material – he makes sure you understand it and can apply it. His patience and dedication to each student’s progress set him apart from other teachers.

Mr. James breaks down each individual lesson into small, more digestible activities and questions. Mr. James also teaches students how to apply knowledge to exam style questions, which means his lessons are not only interesting but also practical.

Mr. Hopkinson is an incredibly patient teacher. He never makes students feel discouraged to ask questions or share their thoughts. I’m sure I’m speaking on behalf of many others when I say, we’ve never been made to feel “stupid” for point out the things that did not make sense to us in the lesson – Mr. Hopkinson only turned them into opportunities for learning and growth. The openness of inquiry he created in his classroom was immensely valuable for a subject as encompassing as A-Level Geography.

Students should always expect to have an in-depth understanding of the topics studied, as well as their thinking being always being challenged (in a way that pushes them more).

His lessons are never boring because he makes it very interactive, by using Google Docs, websites, card sorting, making videos, debates, etc. I love that he takes the time to grade and give really detailed feedback on our exams and assignments and that really help us understand our weaknesses and strengths.

Mr James is an excellent teacher. Any student who would have him as their teacher is in incredible hands.

I believe that his ability to get students to be interested in learning is what makes him a great teacher. Making the lessons fun and the knowledge memorable and applicable to real life which help me with understanding and memorizing many of the content I learn even when I am in college.

I like how he engages with the class with discussion, which seem typical for most but Mr. James actually listens to students’ input and helps me to understand the materials further through detailed case studies and his understanding of the matter at hand as well.
